This work from
2003 is a telematic project which incorporates a small microphone
and lock of hair*. The hair acts as the stylus for the microphone,
which is driven by anonymous users over the internet, and results
in a minimalist soundscape as well as a video feed of the live interaction
with the interface. The surface is a "prepared" tableau
comprised of pins in a book which is covered in dust. This book/pin
surface has been collecting dust for the past 15 years...

only to users within the space.

*IMPORTANT: For streaming of the box you will need to go into your
QuickTime Settings (control panels) and under the Streaming Transport
option choose RTSP (instead of HTTP) and specify port ID 554. If you
are behind a firewall you will need to open port 554.
